Monthly Photo Contest Rules
1. You must be a Photo Arts Club Member to submit a photo.
2. You Must be present to enter.
3. A maximum of three photos may be entered in the contest event.
4. Photo may be color or black & white unless other wise specified.
For Photographic Prints:
a. Photo must be a minimum of 8”x 10”. Maximum
size, including mat is 16”x 24”.
b. Photo must be mounted on mount board and/or
matted.
c. The Photo must not be framed nor contain glass.
d. Name & title of the print or similar information
must appear on the back of print in the center top.
For Digital Entries:
a. Size: Resolution not to exceed maximum (long
Side) 1080 pixels. 72 PPI-jpeg file
b. File name, photographer’s three initials/and title of
File must be included
Example: S K S-A lovely Bunch of Coconuts
5. Titles, names, or dates must not appear on front of the
photo. This will be cause for disqualification of entry.
6. Judging will be done by volunteer judges using a 0 to 9
scale covering three categories, Artistic, Technical, and Composition). Total scores will be available at the conclusion of the contest upon request.
7. Decision of the judges is finial.
8. Contest Committee and Board members reserve the right to exclude any photo that is deemed offensive, controversial or otherwise inappropriate for our membership ie: nudity, criminal or illegal activities.
The Three Categories and their meaning are as follows:
Artistic: Artistic is the Wow factor in the photo—the creative extra that measures whether it stands out from the crowd.
Technical: Technical is the measure of how appropriate the photo it to the category, sharp focus, exposure, mounting and matting.
Composition: Composition refers to how the subject is put together including placement, cropping, use of color, type of light, use of lines and possible vanishing point, and whether the photo works to emphasize subject.
