The digital only contest seemed to go over pretty well and the participants were fairly happy with the quality of the projected image. I think we will have this contest quarterly.

Another idea I would like to know if there is an interest in is a contest in which only disposable cameras are used with no post processing applied to the image. The display method could be print or digital. Yes, it would cost a little more, but I think it would be fun. It forces the photographer to focus exclusively on making a photo and not worrying about camera settings or tweaking the photo later. I think it puts us all on a more level playing field and demonstrates good images can be made regardless of the tools although it proves to be a bit more challenging since we have all gotten used to the modern conveniences.

Todd,

Not sure how a disposable would work with digital. All sorts of processing could be applied. I am not aware of any diposable "digital" cameras. They may be out there though.

About the best you would get from a diposable (if you want to judge from the camera) is 4X6's. If you went bigger, then it would probably not be "straight from the camera".

Thinking about this more, digital projection would not be a good option due to the image editing possibilities. Not applying any editing and getting the photo printed in a 8x10 or 8x12 size would keep everything level and fair. Disposable cameras make good 8x10's. If someone wanted to submit a black and white image, I would say have the lab de-saturate the photo so that the maker is not editing the image. This would be the only editing that is allowed.

I was referring to disposable 35mm cameras instead of using a disposable digital camera.
